MATOPO HILLS LODGE

The Matopo Hills Lodge in Zimbabwe, built on a private reserve next to the famous Matopo National Park, is an establishment that captures the serene essence of the Matobo Hills. Designed in such as way as to blend into the granite boulders so characteristic of the Matobo Hills, the Matobo Hills Lodge offers unrivalled views of the Maleme Valley and Mount Ififi.

At the Matopo Hills Lodge, guests are accommodated in 17 thatched luxury lodges, built from granite, all en-suite. Four lodges have double beds, while the remaining lodges have twin beds. Tea/coffee-making facilities are available in all lodges.

The lodges are joined by means of raised walkways to the main complex of the Matopo Hills Lodge. The lounge and bar with its glass walls as well as a balcony offers unforgettable views of the surroundings. Visit the nearby tribal villages where the lifestyle of the Kalanga and Ndebele people reflect the past and present. The Ntswatugi Cave is the scene of ancient cave paintings and it was here where the palette of an artist from 40 000 years ago was found. While the steep climb to the Silozwane cave will test your fitness, the view from there will be worth your while.

Visit the grave of Cecil John Rhodes at sunrise, when you will understand why he chose this spot, the “View of the World”, as his resting place. Somehow this spot in the Matopo Hills tells you much about his character and life.

Spurwing Island in the Matusadona Game reserve in Lake Kariba will be you destination. In Harare don't look any further than our sister hotel the five star Rainbow Towers Hotel which was previously known as the Sheraton Hotel Harare. There are not a single Mitsubishi or Merceds dealer in zimbabwe. The nearest dealer are Naledi Motors in Francistown and as Mitsubishi Motors south Africa they are known for their poor service.

SOUTH AFRICA

South africa are our southern neighbours and here Matobo Hills are proudly associated with numerous other hotels and lodges. The Kambro self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation is on a farm north of Britstown.
Kob Inn is a resort along the Wildcoast of South Africa while Ntaba River Lodge is in Port St Johns. Another Eastern Cape Hotel of high standard is The Regent in East London. If you plan a holiday in any of these resorts or hotels you can use the Merino Inn Hotel in Colesberg as an overnight stop between Matobo Hills Lodge and the coast.

BOTSWANA

If you plan a visit to the Okavango Delta after your stay in the Matobos we recommend Rileys Hotel on the banks of the Thamalakane River or Island Safari Lodge in Maun as your gateway but in the Chobe region Senyati Safari camp offers both camping and self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation near the famous Chobe national Park.
